Interesting Obesity Facts

I was listening to the radio this morning and they were talking about people being overweight, eating disorders, & statistics. 33% of women eat due to depression, but more women eat due to boredom. If the rate of obesity keeps increasing at the rate it is now by the year 2058 EVERY US Citizen will be obese. How gross is that. It's bad enough that I am fat and so many other people are as well, but can you imagine the whole country. We are talking heart attack city!

Other facts that I found nauseating, sad, and interesting at the same time:

* One to two million adults in the U.S., have problems with binge eating.

* Studies suggest that about sixty percent of adult Americans, both male and female, are overweight.

* Causes include fast food, snacks with high sugar and fat content, use of automobiles, increased time spent in front of TV sets and computers, and a generally more sedentary lifestyles than slimmer peers.

Now here's something that I am sure a lot of women aim for but is so not realistic

ew.. thats so gross. I would not want to live in a county where every single person is obese. I understand, to an extend how people are obese.. And it's good to oppose the use of EXTREMELY skinny girls in ads and stuff, but using obese people is kinda saying that its okay to be unhealthy. Id rather everyone be healthy. but i guess what can you do.

I used to be opposed to magazines with super skinny girls because it just makes people feel fatter and uglier, but at least with magazines we have something to strive for even if it is an unattainable goal for most. I'd rather have people with eating disorders that look like this -->

Than have eating disorders and look like this -->

And it's tough because it does boil down to health and not looks. People need to think of their internal beauty and upkeep of their organs as well as external but I guess since people don't see it they don't take it into consideration until there is a critical issue. i.e., cancer, diabetes, and so on.

Those statics are appaling though.
